Parsha Shemos is a big warning light for me and should be for you to and I’ll tell you why. Ok so there’s the obvious warning that when we begin to hear about yetzias mitzrayim it means that Pesach is coming and you better begin your organizing projects now. It’s 6 weeks to Purim. And once purim comes you want to focus on actual pesach cleaning and not sorting through papers and toys. So now is the time to dig into the black holes in your home. And those of you who have been already doing that with me in our zoom classes or in appointments are going to really feel it this year making pesach- it’s going to be a breeze.
But then there are less obvious projects you should be starting immediately. Did you plan on purchasing a new appliance before pesach? Were you thinking of renovating your kitchen? Making changes in your home? Purchasing new furniture or a new closet? If so- these projects must be started immediately. Today. For a number of reasons. Let’s start with an easy project – a new closet. It’s going to take you some time to decide how it should be designed. If you’re fast it will take you a week. When you finally make it to the store and submit your order- it takes a month to 6 weeks to have it delivered to your home. So if you start tonight – that brings you the week after purim. Not to mention hold-ups in production and delivery due to corona. And if you wait a few weeks . . . you probably will not get your order before pesach
If you were planning on renovating your kitchen, the design process in the best case scenario takes a month and usually much longer. By the time your plans are ready to be implemented, the kitchen carpenters will be swamped with erev pesach orders and may not have time for yours. The carpenters last week were pressuring designers to submit the plans so that the kitchen will be ready in time for pesach. And if you were planning full-blown renovations – its probably too late unless you start tomorrow with a very good kablan who is only focused on you. Please be smart. Erev Pesach – focus on pesach , and NOW is the time to deal with all those other details you wanted to take care of before pesach. This week take a look at all those projects which you wanted to get done before pesach and take your first steps towards implementing. Need help? Contact me ASAP yael@yaelwiesner.com
